Fix 1 – Check the Connectivity Between the SD Card and Camera


1.    Remove your SD card and reinsert it in the camera.

2.    Make sure it is inserted properly.

3.    Turn off the camera.

4.    Restart it to avoid any interference.

5.   Clean the metallic part of the memory card very carefully with toothbrush or rubber.

6.    If the card slot also looks dirty clean it too.


Fix 2 – Scan the SD Card with The Help Of CHKDSK

The CHKDSK is a command that runs in the computer. So, for sorting out the issue of GoPro SD card error you need to access the memory card with computer and follow the steps given below.

1.  Insert the card into the card reader and connect it with your system.

2.  Click on “start” and choose “computer”.

3. Search for the memory card in the drive letter that is assigned with removable storage.

4. Again, click on “start” and type “CMD” to launch the command.



5.  Click on “run as administrator”.

6.  Type “chkdsk” with the drive letter and then /f: r/f next to it.



7.  Tap “enter”.

After the completion of steps, the CHKDSK will search for the errors and try repairing them.

Fix 3 – Update the Firmware

Many times, the left-out updates or using the outdated version of GoPro firmware can cause issues for the SD card. So, you need to update the firmware to its latest version for increasing its compatibility to perform properly. And for doing so you have to visit the GoPro update list and choose the model that you are currently using. There will different updating processes for different GoPro models and you have to follow them accordingly.
